Course Description

Join Faith Hunter on a journey of exploring techniques and methods of safely going upside down. This inversion course is for students and teachers because she breaks down the components of handstand, headstand and forearm stand in a way that can support you at any level of your practice.

The course is divided into detailed workshops explaining the techniques, and energetic yoga classes incorporating the postures. In addition, Faith shares additional classes that tap into your core, opens your hamstrings, unwinds the body, calms the mind, and stimulate the body and mind with an assortment of advanced variations. This joyful and sometimes intense course is a great way to enhance your personal practice, and increase your ability to safely invert.

  • Handstand Workshop: This session is highlights the fundamentals, and detailed techniques of practicing handstand. Faith reviews hand position, arm engagement, weight distribution, core, leg and feet engagement, and transitioning from L-shape to floating up with both legs.

  • Handstand Yoga Class: Move with playfulness and ease through a vinyasa yoga class that effectively blends handstands in the mix of the flow.  Along with building heat and strength, you will have the opportunity to flow, ignite, and float gracefully into a handstand.
  • Forearm Stand Workshop: This workshop walks through the elements and techniques you need in order to successfully balance with the forearms. You will learn effective ways to engage your arms with the use of props, and how to align the body to maintain spinal stability.
  • Forearm Stand Yoga Class: This vinyasa yoga practice opens the shoulders, stimulates the core, and expands the chest in preparation for forearm stand. It’s is a great increase shoulder strength and flexibility, build heat in the body, and incorporate the techniques of forearm stand.

  • Headstand Workshop: Faith will share safe and uncomplicated was of adding headstand into your personal yoga practice while maintaining strength and spinal alignment. You will learn a variety of leg positions to move into the full expression, and one of her favorite ways of teaching tripod headstand.
  • Headstand Yoga Class: This is a well-rounded vinyasa class that merges more than one variation of headstand in the flow. Typically one of the first inversions students accomplish, Faith offers a practice that’s accessible to all.
  • Core & Shoulder Flow: Core strength, shoulder flexibility merged with personal power supports your ability to move, transition, and experience hang time in inversions. This vinyasa class will fire and open you up, while creating spaciousness in the body.

  • Hamstring and Leg Flow: Faith designed the perfect hamstring and leg flow to support and balance out your time upside down. This practice releases tightness, and builds stamina.
  • Inversion Playtime: Get your yoga play on and float. Faith shares an assortment of inversion variations based on the fundamental techniques of handstand, forearm stand and headstand. Go upside down, and have fun doing it.
  • Unwind Slow Flow: Release, let go, and unwind the body after the intense and high power engagement you cultivated during your inversion practice. This gentle flowing practice soothes the legs, shoulders, hips, wrist, and the mind.

  • Guided Meditation: Sit comfortably, relax the mind, and visualize yourself effortlessly achieving your dream inversion. As meditation instructor, Faith truly believes in mind over matter, and through this guided meditation, she will help you see what’s possible.

Meet Faith! International yoga and meditation instructor, wellness philanthropist, movement guide, music head, and Spiritually Fly theorist.

Faith Hunter began her practice of yoga and meditation in the early 90s as a way to cope while her beloved brother Michael was dying from complications related to AIDS. Through mindfulness and personal reflection, Faith was able to release her fears and experience an awakening from within. From that day forward, she committed herself to sharing these practices with the world.
Always eager to learn, explore, and share, Faith has been teaching since 2003 and is an inspiring and generous mentor to wellness practitioners of all skill levels.

With a BS degree in Marketing from Grambling State University and an MBA from Loyola University, Faith is the Owner and Inspirational Creator of Embrace Yoga DC, a yoga and wellness center located in Adams Morgan – a multicultural nest of Washington, DC. She is also the architect of Spiritually Fly™, a life philosophy that celebrates every moment of life, and uses the technology of breath, movement, sound (chanting & music), and stillness, in a fresh and modern way to encourage students to live an epic life.

Her passionate teaching style is heavily influenced by Kundalini Yoga, Vinyasa, and various forms of meditation. A next-generation teacher Faith blends Classic yogic principles and real-world occurrences into an integrated experience that is grounded, radical and unforgettably Spiritually Fly™. As a creative spirit, Faith is also a writer who has merged her love of poetry and meditation into numerous projects. Her latest is Shades of the Soul: A Meditation Journal, that blends her original poems and daily inspirational thoughts.

A favorite choice for mass yoga gatherings Faith has taught at Yoga On the Great Lawn, the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC, multiple Wanderlust 108 events (US and Mexico), The White House Easter Egg Roll and is an esteemed faculty member for Kripalu and Yogaville. She tours internationally teaching yoga and meditation workshops, teacher trainings, and an assortment of public appearances. Faith is also a media darling having graced the covers of Yoga Journal (twice), Om Yoga & Lifestyle (UK based), Origin Magazine, and Sweat Equity. She has also appeared in Essence, Black Enterprise, Washington Post, Women’s Health, Shape Magazine, and several publications and numerous blogs. Faith is a Yoga Expert for BeachBody, where she’s one of the key instructors for a 3-week Yoga Retreat.
